Zoffany Juvenile Impresses On Debut
Soffika (2f Zoffany - Rosika, by Sakhee) made an impressive winning debut at Pontefract on Sunday, when overcoming a slow start to run out a clear winner.
Ridden by Ryan Moore, she soon reached the rest of the field after a slow break and was pushed along approaching the turn for home. Racing wide in the straight, she made good headway to join the leaders inside the final furlong and ran on under hands and heels to score by two and a quarter lengths.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Soffika is owned by Sir Evelyn De Rothschild and was bred at his Southcourt Stud. She is a half-sister to Dubka, a Group performer for the same connections, while their black-type dam is a half-sister to the talented Rambling Rose, herself the dam of Notnowcato.
Zoffany commands €25,000 at Coolmore Stud this season.
