11-length debut winner for Yeats
Racecourse debutant Utility (4g Yeats-Ungarin, by Goofalik) looks yet another smart representative for Yeats after scoring by 11 lengths at Uttoxeter on Tuesday.
A €160,000 purchase from last year’s Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, the Jonjo O’Neill-trained four-year-old was sent off a warm favourite for his first start and coasted home under Richard Johnson.
The gelding, bred in Germany by Gestut Rottgen, carries the famous silks of Derrick Smith and he looks to have an exciting career ahead of him.
The Racing Post commented: “UTILITY proved all the rage and came home an impressive debut winner. He is related to some smart German Flat winners, and represents powerful connections. The going was no bother and he has plenty of scope, so could be very useful. An outing under a penalty would reveal more.”
