17-length juvenile winner for Yeats

Four-year-old Seven Kingdoms (4g Yeats-Valrhona, by Spectrum) looked a top-class jumping prospect when scoring by 17 lengths on his hurdling debut at Kempton on Saturday.

The son of Yeats, a Flat winner at Clairefontaine in France for breeder Ballygallon Stud, was bought by trainer David Dennis for 45,000gns at Tattersalls in October and that looks money well spent.

Seven Kingdoms is as short as 20/1 for the G1 Triumph Hurdle with bookmakers after this victory although Dennis is not certain to head to the Cheltenham Festival.

"We were a little bit concerned by how testing the ground was, but he has done it well. Noel (Fehily) says he was a little bit green and jumped novicey, but that was promising,” said Dennis.

"I think the Triumph might be flying a bit high. He probably lacks a bit of match practice and needs a summer, but he´ll have the class for that sort of race. It is whether his frame and physique will stick it this year.

“He’s strengthened up a bit since we have had him and he's still got a lot of strengthening up to do. We gave him a month when we had him and he needed every day of that month. He really needs a summer.”
