19-length win for Mahler’s Nemean Lion

Nemean Lion (5g Mahler-Sandy Desert, by Selkirk) won a Southwell novices’ hurdle on Tuesday by no less than 19 lengths, when leading home a 1-2 for Mahler.

The Philip Kirby-trained five-year-old, who also won a Sedgefield novices’ hurdle during the summer, came home well clear of Jonjo O’Neill’s representative Ringmoylan (5g Mahler-La Speziana, by Perugino).

Nemean Lion was bred by Thomas Norris and Kirby commented: “Nemean Lion is consistent and a good fun horse.”
