Aintree Or Fairyhouse Next For Smart Son Of Maxios
The promising Dee Capo (5g Maxios – Walkure, by Nathaniel) made it two from three over hurdles with a smart performance at Leopardstown on Sunday.
The Gordon Elliott-trained bay drew clear in a Galway bumper before winning his hurdle bow in similar fashion. Narrowly denied in a Grade 3 next time out, he took on older horses as he stepped up to two miles and two furlongs on Sunday. Racing in touch under Danny Gilligan, he improved into second after two out and was ridden to lead on the run-in. He ran on well to beat dual Grade 2 winner Ashdale Bob by a length and three quarters, with the pair finishing 13 lengths clear of the rest of the field.
“He’s a nice horse,” Elliott commented after the race. “There is a lot of improvement in him from today. I’d imagine he’ll go to Fairyhouse or Aintree.”
Dee Capo was bought by Elliott with Aidan and Bobby O’Ryan for €230,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale. The son of Maxios is owned by David l’Estrange and was bred by Haras de la Perelle.
