Another black-type win for Mahler’s Parfois
Brilliant Mahler mare Ms Parfois (7m Mahler-Dolly Lewis, by Sir Harry Lewis) won her third high-level chase in under a month when triumphing at Warwick on Saturday.
A winner of a Cheltenham novices’ event and a Newbury Listed event in December, she won the Listed Hampton Novices’ Chase by five lengths at Warwick for trainer Anthony Honeyball and jockey Sean Bowen.
“She's a serious jumper - you don't see many mares with an asset like that. It was a lovely sight to see her jump the last like that. That was the first time she has run against geldings but she held her own,” said Honeyball. “She’s a lovely mare. If it was soft ground I'd be all over the four-miler (National Hunt Chase) at the Cheltenham Festival. She's a big, heavy-topped horse and next season will be exciting.”
Bowen was also impressed and added: “She’s a brilliant jumper, that’s why she has done so well over fences. Not many mares can attack their fences like that and have so much scope at the same time. It was a step up today and she won that well.”
