Back To Back Wide Margin Wins For Mahler Mare
Carrigeen Kampala (5m Mahler - Carrigeen Kariega, by Luso) proved a cut above her rivals when running out an easy winner of the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Newton Abbot on Wednesday.
A debut winner of a bumper last season, the Fergal O’Brien-trained mare impressed on her second start over hurdles last month and was sent off a short-priced favourite to follow up under Liam Harrison. The daughter of Mahler led from flag-fall and began to ease clear from the second last, going on to score by 17 lengths at a canter.
Owned by the National Hunt Racing Club, Carrigeen Kampala has won or placed on all but one of her career starts. The Mahler mare was bred by Mrs RH Lalor out of homebred winner Carrigeen Kariega.
