Black Type Getaway Mare Delivers On Hurdle Debut
Talented bumper mare Queen’s Gamble (5m Getaway - Gambling Girl, by Hawk Wing) made a winning hurdle debut at Warwick on Monday afternoon.
The Oliver Sherwood-trained mare impressed on her first two starts in bumpers, including when winning a Listed contest at Cheltenham by eight lengths, and was sent off favourite in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle over two miles. Ridden prominently by Brian Hughes, she led after the third last and was shaken up at the next flight. Keeping on well on the run-in, she won by four lengths and three quarters, with another eight and a half lengths back to the third.
Owned by breeder Alex Frost with E Galvin, Queen’s Gamble is the first foal out of Gambling Girl, who has a two-year-old filly by Walk In The Park.
