Black Type Next For Walk In The Park Mare
Willie Mullins unveiled his latest smart bumper horse on Monday in the shape of Arctic Fly (5m Walk In The Park - Arctic Lady, by Soldier Hollow), who justified favouritism in the mares’ bumper at Leopardstown.
Patrick Mullins took the ride aboard the well-bred newcomer and raced prominently throughout the two mile contest. Drawing clear approaching the final furlong, the bay kept on well under pressure to win by a length and three quarters, with the front pair finishing nine lengths clear of the field.
“She picked up well in the straight,” the winning rider later commented. “I'd imagine we'll give her a chance at some black-type, maybe in Fairyhouse. It looked like a good bumper on paper and I'd say the second horse is nice.”
Arctic Fly is owned by Brendan O’Sullivan and was bred by Edward Kearney out of a half-sister to Arctic Fire. Willie Mullins also trainers Arctic Fly’s full-brother Honky Tonk (Walk In The Park), who finished third on debut in a bumper earlier this season.
