Classic Contender Completes Double For Maxios
Cirona (2f Maxios – Coco Demure, by Titus Livius) completed the first leg of a smart maiden double for Maxios on Friday when making a winning debut at Bordeaux.
Ridden close to the pace by Julien Auge, the Christopher Ferland-trained filly led from a furlong and a half out and stayed on to win by three parts of a length. The Ecurie Waldeck homebred is a half-sister to Listed winner Chares, as well as the highly-rated Qaysar (Choisir) and White Chocolate (Mastercraftsman).
Later that afternoon at Dortmund, Elle Memory (3f Maxios – Elle Danzig, by Roi Danzig) built on a promising debut second to win the fillies maiden over ten furlongs.
Trained by Peter Schiergen for owner/breeder Gestut Wittekindshof, she raced clear of her rivals with ease and won by two and a quarter lengths. She may now be aimed at the Group 1 Preis der Diana, last year won by Diamanta (Maxios). Maxios has another Classic hopefull this season in the shape of German Derby entry Palm Springs, who made a winning debut earlier this month.
