Classy Getaway Mare Goes One Better In Novice Hurdle
Allavina (6m Getaway - One Cool Kate, by Definite Article) built on a promising start over hurdles to justify favoritism in the Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Fontwell on Thursday.
Successful in a bumper last March, the Olly Murphy-trained bay finished fourth at Listed level in November and went on to finish second on her hurdle debut last month. Making a slight step up in trip to two miles and two furlongs at Fontwell, she travelled strongly under Aidan Coleman and was travelling best of the field when producing a challenge at the second last. Pushed to lead at the final flight, she was ridden out to hold off Belle De Manech by a length on the line, as the pair drew clear of a strung-out field.
Owned by C Boultbee-Brooks, Allavina was bred by John O’Riordan and hails from the family of Apache Stronghold.
