Jumping Jet (Getaway) Wins The Mares Maiden Hurdle At Leopardstown

Consistent Mare Leads Home 1-2 For Getaway

Sunday saw Jumping Jet (7m Getaway - Little Mili, by Milan) lead home a 1-2 for Getaway in the Mares Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Gordon Elliott’s representative was sent off joint-favourite for the two and a half mile contest and was ridden prominently by Jordan Gainford. Pushed along approaching the second last, she produced a challenge before the final flight and was ridden to lead soon after. Keeping on well on the run-in, she scored by two and a quarter lengths, while runner-up Emily Roebling (Getaway) finished clear of the remainder.

“She's a grand honest mare,” Elliott said after the race. “She's been running consistently on her last few runs. She stayed galloping well and we're delighted.”

Jumping Jet joined Elliott’s stable following a wide margin win on debut for Barry Fitzgerald and now races in the colours of Mrs B McConnell. Subsequently placed on her first two starts over hurdles, the daughter of Getaway was bred by D Mitchell.
