Consistent Son Of Maxios Gains Novice Hurdle Win
The Alan King-trained Isolate (4g Maxios - Unaided, by Dansili) built on some promising efforts to land Wednesday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton.
Placed on the flat on three occasions, the bay went on to finish second on his hurdle debut on his first start for owners Noel Fehily Racing and was last seen taking third in a similar contest. Tom Cannon took the ride once again on Wednesday, positioning his mount behind the leaders and asserted from three out. Pushed along approaching the second last, Isolate jumped the final flight well and ran on to score by three and a half lengths, with another 16 lengths back to the favourite in third.
Bred by SARL De Chambure, Isolate continues a promising start to Maxios’s progeny in the national hunt sphere. The Castlehyde Stud recruit has already enjoyed Cheltenham Festival success courtesy of Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle winner Aramax, while recent performances of note include French recruit Quilixios racing clear at Punchestown on his first start for Gordon Elliott.
