Coolmore NH Sires Make Strong Start To Store Sales Season
Grange Stud sire Getaway enjoyed a terrific start to the 2020 store sales season when topping the opening day of trade at the Goffs UK Summer Sale.
His son out of black-type performer Corskeagh Shadow (Lot 620) previously proved a pricey foal purchase at €65,000 and Monday’s consignor, Oak Tree Farm, reaped the rewards when reselling the bay for £175,000. The successful purchaser was Michael Moore of Ballincurrig House Stud, who later commented, “He was the pick of his year as a foal and he’s the pick again now.”
Four lots earlier, Michael Moore donned the cap of consignor when selling a son of Walk In The Park for £135,000. The May-born bay is the first foal out of Grade 1 hurdle winner Bitofapuzzle and will be trained by Colin Tizzard, who paired up with agent Ross Doyle to secure him.
The Beeches Stud stalwart Flemensfirth is no stranger to six-figure sales and was responsible for Dan Skelton’s £110,000 purchase of Lot 625. Consigned by Glenvale Stud, the bay is out of Erins Stage, herself a winning full-sister to Theatre Guide.
Former Grange Stud resident Fame And Glory was another sire responsible for a six-figure sale, when his son out of Flowers On Sunday was knocked down to Henrietta Knight for £105,000.
