Coolmore Sires Dominate Goffs December NH Sale
Coolmore sires dominated the Goffs December NH Sale, which was topped by a son of Soldier Of Fortune at €72,000.
Offered by Garryrichard Stud, the colt was knocked down to Adrian Costello, who later commented, “He was just one of the stand out foals of the day. He’s a lovely type from a very good and current family and there was a lot to like about him. Also you’d have to be excited about Soldier Of Fortune given what he has done so far.”
Costello’s Park Farm also signed for a son of Walk In The Park offered by Peria Stud. He went to €49,000 for the colt out of a winning Westerner half-sister to two black-type horses.
Grange Stud sire Walk In The Park was also responsible for a colt from Ashwood Stud, who sold to Prospect Stables for €64,000. After signing the docket, Gerry Aherne said, “He was the pick of the sale I thought and the plan is to bring him back to the store sales as a three-year-old. He’s by a very exciting sire and he’s got a great page with the dam having been a very highclass jumper in France.”
Milan sired the highest-priced filly foal of the week, with Rathmore Stud going to €54,000 for a filly owned by Ms Mary Brennan and offered by Carrols Grove Stables. The April-born is out of multiple Graded winner Burn And Turn (Flemensfirth) and comes from the family of Grade 1 performer Space Trucker.
Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud earlier went to €52,000 for a Westerner half-brother to Graded hurdler Stand Up And Fight (Flemensfirth) offered by Glen Stables. He is also a full-brother to useful hurdler Anything Will Do (Westerner), which was part of the colt’s appeal, according to Molony; “He cost plenty but the nice ones usually do and hopefully he’ll be lucky. He’s a very nice colt by a good sire and his full-brother looks quite promising too.”
The latest produce of top race mare Petit Parisienne attracted attention on pedigree alone and the son of Flemensfirth did not disappoint when selling to William Bryan for €54,000. The bay was offered by Ballincurrig House stud on behalf of Coolmara Stables, whose Kieran Mariga described the colt as “the best foal out of the mare.”
Purchaser Mandy Brown revealed that the colt may be resold or kept to race, adding, “He's such a looker that whatever he does, he'll always catch the eye. He's an absolute walker and moves very straight, and was a standout for us.”
