Daughter Of Getaway Justifies Favouritism On Debut
Roedora (4f Getaway - Angel Chorus, by Dylan Thomas) justified strong market support to make a winning debut in the fillies’ bumper at Down Royal on Friday evening.
Trained by Joseph O’Brien for Sarah O’Brien, the daughter of Getaway was sent off favourite under Tom Hamilton and raced prominently throughout. Leading after the two furlong pole, she was ridden soon after and kept on well to win by a length and three quarters. The first two horses finished seven and a half lengths clear of the field.
“It is a great start,” the winning rider later said. “She is still plenty green and there's lots of improvement in her. She was only just getting going at the line as well, she won plenty snug.”
Bred by Mrs Ann Marie O’Brien, Roedora provides a timely update for her Order Of St George half-brother, who sells at the upcoming Goffs Arkle Sale.
