De Bromhead has Cheltenham Dream after Mahler G3 win
Chris’s Dream (6g Mahler-Janebailey, by Silver Patriarch) made a perfect first start for trainer Henry de Bromhead with a G3 success at Clonmel on Tuesday.
The Mahler gelding joined Henry de Bromhead after changing hands for £175,000 following an easy maiden hurdle win at Limerick in December.
Mark Walsh was in the saddle on Tuesday as Chris’s Dream stretched further and further clear of his rivals, eventually winning the G3 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle by a staggering 64 lengths. He is now on course for the G1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.
"He stayed well and Mark said he was just hacking away there," said de Bromhead. "He's in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham and is entitled to go after that performance and obviously stays well. He is a nice, light moving horse and I think we'll give it a go. It goes without saying but he is a chaser in the making as well.”
Chris’s Dream was bred by Mary O’Connor.
