Debut bumper winner continues great run for Yeats
Last Minute Man (5g Yeats-Ella Watson, by Supreme Leader) became the latest impressive winner for Yeats when capturing a Down Royal bumper on his debut for trainer Gordon Elliott on Tuesday.
Sporting the colours of Paul and Clare Rooney, the €125,000 store purchase looked to have a bright future as he scored by three lengths under Jamie Codd.
“He’s lovely - a gorgeous horse. We think he’s a real good horse,” said Elliott. “He’s still a big weak baby and we might not even run him again this season. He’ll be a nice horse to go jumping down the line. He’ll be a nice horse with a summer’s grass and he’s definitely one to look forward to when he goes hurdling next season.”
Last Minute Man, who was bred by Michael Tobin, continued a great run for Yeats.
The previous day at Plumpton, the Warren Greatrex-trained The Caller (6g Yeats-Wyldello, by Supreme Leader) won a maiden hurdle by eight lengths.
