Doyle And Tizzard Go To £165,000 For Son Of Getaway

Lord Of Thunder (5g Getaway - Harbour Mistress) will join the Joe Tizzard stable after selling for £165,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale on Thursday.

The son of Getaway was well-supported on debut at Bellharbour, but Sam Curling’s charge was unfortunate to run into the exciting Mt Fugi Park (Walk In The Park) that day, and was forced to settle for second. The ten length gap back to the third, and the winner’s subsequent sale of £290,000, showed the strength of the maiden, as noted by successful buyer Ross Doyle.

“We thought this horse was an outstanding physical,” the agent said. “Obviously, he was bought by some very good judges of young horses in Brendan Bashford and the Hyde family. Sam was very complimentary about him, he said he’s well above average.”

The sire was also a factor, he added, “Getaway has been lucky for us, Joe’s always thought a lot of The Big Breakaway and they’re quite similar physicals.”
