€72,000 Mahler colt is star at Goffs
A son of Mahler stole the show at the Goffs December Sale on Wednesday when selling for €72,000 after attracting huge interest in the ring.
Peter Molony tried hard to get the half-brother to multiple G1 winner Oscar Whisky (9g Oscar-Ash Baloo, by Phardante), who sadly lost his life at the weekend, but it was John O’Byrne who had the final say.
“The brother speaks for himself, he was a top-class jumper and this colt is a very nice sort, while I think the stallion is a coming sire who we will be hearing a lot more of in the future,” said O’Byrne.
Bred by Stephanie Hanly, the colt achieved the highest price at this sale for a foal since 2007.
