€75,000 Flemensfirth colt shines at Fairyhouse
Kevin Ross fought off some strong opposition to get a blue-blooded Flemensfirth colt foal at Tattersalls Ireland on Wednesday.
Ross, buying on behalf of trainer Ben Case, went to €75,000 for the first foal of the Kayf Tara mare Lucky Fancy, half-sister to the likes of Diamond Sal, Ring The Boss, Theatre Girl and Conflictofinterest,
“He’s by a fabulous sire and he’s out of a Kayf Tara mare, which is another positive. It’s a nice family that keeps producing good horses and he’s been bought on behalf of a client who will bring him back for sale as a three-year-old,” revealed Ross.
Agent Aiden Murphy was another seeking a well-connected Flemensfirth colt. He paid €70,000 for the first foal of the Yeats mare Avichi, a sibling to legendary hurdler Hurricane Fly. The colt was sold from Yellowford Farm.
Meanwhile, Brendan Bashford snapped up a €62,000 Flemensfirth colt out of another sibling to a Champion Hurdle winner, this time Rock On Ruby’s sister Misty Heather.
The colt was offered for John O’Dwyer by Ballyclerihan House Stud.
Bashford also paid €60,000 for a Flemensfirth colt out of the Ballingarry mare Marie Des Anges, bred by Lisa Pynes and consigned by Lisnagar Paddocks.
