EBF Final On The Cards For Improving Son Of Getaway
The progressive Striking A Pose (5g Getaway - Clonsingle Native, by Be My Native) ran out a taking winner of the Kenn Novices’ Hurdle at Exeter on Friday.
Impressive when winning his point-to-point a year ago, Colin Tizzard’s charge ran out a comfortable winner on his third start over hurdles in December. He was sent off favourite on Friday’s return and made all on his drop back to two miles and two and a half furlongs. Eight lengths clear at the third last, he extended his advantage approaching the final flight and scored by 11 lengths, unchallenged.
Assistant trainer Joe Tizzard later revealed that the winner would now be aimed at the EBF Final at Sandown, adding, “He's a gorgeous-looking horse and it was nice to watch all the way round - his ears were pricked and he didn't put a foot wrong. He'll be a lovely chaser for next season.”
Bought by Colin Tizzard and Peter and Ross Doyle after winning his point-to-point, Striking A Pose is now owned by M Sharp, G Kennington and I & C Gosden. The improving son of Getaway was bred by Gerry Caplis and is a half-brother to talented chaser Ackertac.
