Elliott Hoping Lightening Strikes Twice With Son Of Maxios
Michael Fitzpatrick of Kilminfoyle House Stud is known as a shrewd operator and proved so once again when selling the sole offering by Maxios for €80,000 on Day 1 of the Goffs Land Rover Sale.
Bobby O’Ryan’s winning bid was an excellent profit on the bay’s yearling price of 20,000gns. On his pricey purchase, O’Ryan commented, “He’s been bought for a syndicate and he will go into training with Gordon Elliott who has had plenty of luck with the sire already. I just loved the horse and if I’m honest I didn’t think that I would be able to buy him. Hopefully he can win the Land Rover Bumper in 2021.”
Gordon Elliott has indeed enjoyed success with the progeny of Maxios, having won the Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle with Aramax at the Cheltenham Festival. Aramax, along with Scottish Triumph Hurdle second Group Stage, Paul Nicholl’s Ecco and Joseph O’Brien’s Star Max, is among exciting national hunt prospects by Maxios, who transferred to Castlehyde Stud for the 2020 season. The dual Group 1 winning son of Monsun proved extremely popular with Irish breeders and covered a large book of quality mares.
