Euxton Lane (Getaway) winning a hurdle race at Newbury

Euxton Lane could be special for Getaway

Trainer Oliver Sherwood was dreaming of big things after Euxton Lane (6g Getaway-Local Hall, by Saddlers' Hall) scored at Newbury on Friday.

The Getaway gelding, a 17-length winner at Fontwell 16 days earlier, won the extended 2m 4f contest at Newbury by three lengths in the colours of Trevor Hemmings.

“I've always liked Euxton Lane,” Sherwood told the Racing Post. “My horses didn't fire in the first half of the season and we found a few issues, but he's a lovely looking horse who's showing us what we see at home.

“I don't mind if he doesn't run again - ground will dictate that - but he's going to be chasing next season and is one to keep an eye on. He's learning how to relax and is neat on his feet; he's just a lovely horse and would have been one, if mine had been right, to get ready for the EBF Final.”

Euxton Lane was bred Thomas Hennessy.
