Exciting Getaway Mare Draws Clear At Cheltenham
Queens Gamble (4f Getaway - Gambling Girl, by Hawk Wing) emerged as a smart prospect for trainer Oliver Sherwood when drawing clear to win the mares’ bumper at Cheltenham on Thursday.
Held up by Jonathan Burke, the daughter of Getaway made smooth headway from three furlongs out and led approaching the final furlong. Soon clear, she scored by ten lengths, as favourite Mullenbeg (Walk In The Park) claimed runners-up honours under a penalty.
Speaking after the race, Sherwood said, “It was nice to see that. I'm chuffed for Alex (Frost, joint-owner), to do it as a home-bred, he was in floods of tears. Queens Gamble travelled great and was just so professional.
Owned by Alex Frost and Edward Galvin, Queens Gamble is the first foal out of Ardmulchan Stud’s homebred mare Gambling Girl.
