Exciting Getaway Mare Outclasses Rivals On Rules Debut
Debut point-to-point winner Ah Whisht (6m Getaway - Listening, by King’s Theatre) made an impressive start under rules on Thursday when drawing clear in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Ffos Las.
Bought for £140,000 after making a perfect start for Ross O’Sullivan, the daughter of Getaway was well-supported on her stable bow for Tom Symonds. Racing in touch under Ben Poste, she was shaken up to lead approaching three from home and drew clear before the next. Eased down close home, she won by 13 lengths from a strung-out field, as hurdle and point-to-point winner Royale Dance was forced to settle for runners-up honours.
Now owned by Dahlbury Racing, Ah Whisht is a full-sister to four-time winner Hear No Evil (Getaway) and a half-sister to unbeaten hurdler Attacca (Mahler). The trio were bred by Mrs Mary McCann out of Listening.
