Exciting Prospects Complete Double For Maxios

Kamaxos (5g Maxios - Kamellata, by Pomellato) kicked off a smart double for Maxios on Tuesday when running out an impressive winner of the maiden hurdle at Market Rasen.

Roger Teak’s charge boasted strong form, including a fine third behind Grade 1 winner Dashel Drasher, and was sent off favourite to get off the mark under James Davies. Making all the running, he drew clear before two out and went on to score by all of 18 lengths.

Owned by Andrew Edwards and bred by the Appapays Racing Club, Kamaxos was sourced from the yard of Henri-Alex Pantall.

At Wetherby later that afternoon, promising point-to-point recruit Chasing Fire (5g Maxios - Kahara, by Sadler’s Wells) made a winning start for Olly Murphy and Mrs Diana Whateley.

The son of Maxios was bought by Aiden and Olly Murphy for £170,000 after a commanding debut win at Tattersalls for Denis Murphy, which influenced his favouritism in the two mile bumper. The bay travelled strongly throughout under Aidan Coleman and went clear approaching the two furlong marker. He kept on well inside the final furlong to win by two lengths.

The bumper’s previous winners include Hillcrest and Supasundae, which adds to an already bright future for Chasing Fire. The son of Maxios also boasts a fine pedigree, having been bred by Gestut Fahrhof out of a black-type own-sister to Milan.
