Exciting Son Of Maxios Impresses On Irish Debut
Exciting French recruit Quilixios (3g Maxios - Quilita, by Lomitas) made an impressive start for the Gordon Elliott stable when racing clear to win at Punchestown on Tuesday.
Bred by Stiftung Gestut Faehrhof, the bay won his sole start for Francois Nicolle by 12 lengths in March and was sent off favourite on his first start for Cheveley Park Stud in the Ladbrokes Three-Year-Old Hurdle. He led from flag fall under Denis O’Regan, but was relegated to second after the third flight and regained the advantage approaching the second last. Clear before the final flight, he sauntered home 13 lengths clear of his nearest market rival.
Speaking after the race, Elliott said, “He's a big laid-back horse and is having a good blow after the race. I'd imagine he'll go next to either Down Royal or Wetherby which are both on October 31st. He's a big galloper and will jump a fence in time.”
Elliott has enjoyed success with Maxios’ first national hunt performers, having trained Aramax (Maxios) to win the Grade 3 Fred Winter Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
