G3 chase success for Walk In The Park’s Antony
Improving Walk In The Park six-year-old Antony (6g Walk In The Park-Melanie Du Chenet, by Nikos) won the feature £100,000 G3 Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot on Saturday.
Gary Moore’s charge, ridden by the trainer’s son Jamie, raced prominently before swooping in the home straight to claim the three-mile contest by four and a half lengths.
"I thought the ground was quick enough for him today,” said Gary Moore. “He is a better horse on better ground. Jamie mentioned the other morning this is my Grand National horse and I thought he was dreaming again. He is a horse with a big heart."
Jamie Moore added: "He is a trier. All summer I've always thought he is well handicapped and I mentioned to dad through the summer he could be a National horse. He won on his first try over three miles today and he was not stopping. He is still only a baby.
"He is not in the Hennessy, but he he needs a nice break between races so it might be we go for something at the end of November."
