Getaway Crowned Leading Point-To-Point Sire
Begoodtoyourself (4g Getaway - Lorely, by Oscar) took the Four-Year-Old Maiden at Ballingarry on Monday and later saw his sire gain his first Leading Point-To-Point Sire title with 35 winners for the season.
The Cormac Doyle-trained bay tracked the leaders for much of the way and improved to lead on the turn for home. Staying on well on the run-in, he scored by a length on the line. Begoodtoyourself was bred by Kenneth Parkhill and is a full-brother to fellow point-to-point maiden winner The Dellercheckout (Getaway).
Coolmore Stud sires filled the first four places in the leading sire championship, as Milan followed Getaway with 30 winners in second, Goldwell finished third with 28 wins and the 2018 champion Flemensfirth took fourth at 22 winners.
Getaway has also enjoyed a tremendous 2018/2019 season under rules, led by his first Grade 1 success courtesy of Verdana Blue in the Christmas Hurdle, where she lowered the colours of Buveur D’Air. The Group 1 winning son of Monsun commands €7,500 at Grange Stud this season.
