Roedora (Getaway) Wins The Mares Bumper At Down Royal

Getaway Filly Rallies For Second Bumper Win

Roedora (4f Getaway - Angel Chorus, by Dylan Thomas) rallied gamely to record her second win from three starts at Down Royal on Friday.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained bay made a winning debut over course and distance, before finishing second to a five-year-old at Killarney. With Tom Hamilton back aboard on Friday, she was sent off favourite for the mares’ bumper and raced prominently throughout the two mile and one furlong contest. Leading before the three furlong marker, she was headed close home, but battled back to lead on the line.

Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “She was very good. She was tough to the line and her will to win is a big help.”

Owned by Miss Sarah O’Brien, the daughter of Getaway was bred by Mrs Ann Marie O’Brien out of the winning Dylan Thomas mare Angel Chorus.
