Getaway Gelding Back In Front Once More
One For Rosie (6g Getaway - Whisky Rose, by Old Vic) gained his second win over hurdles in taking style at Warwick on Friday.
Successful on his only bumper start and the winner of his hurdles debut, he was only beaten on soft ground last time out. The market kept the faith, presumeably partly due to a previous beaten rival being Grade 2 victor Glen Forsa (Mahler), and One For Rosie was sent off the short-priced favourite.
Held up by Sam Twiston-Davies, the grey took closer order approaching the second last flight and led before the last, quickening clear to beat Falco Blitz by five lengths. The winning trainer, Nigel Twiston-Davies, commented after the race, “One For Rosie is a nice prospect and the EBF final and Aintree will come into the reckoning for him.”
Owned by Paul and Clare Rooney, One For Rosie was bought by Kevin Ross for €48,000 at the Goffs Landrover Sale. Bred and consigned by Distillery Stud, he is a half-brother to Graded hurdler Air Horse One.
