Getaway Lands First Point-To-Point Of The New Season

Getaway enjoyed a perfect start to the 2024/2025 point-to-point season when his daughter Auntie Lacey (4m Getaway – Auntie Mary, by Scorpion) landed the very first race, Saturday’s four-year-old mares’ maiden at Toomebridge.

Partnered by Barry O’Neill on her second start, the Colin Bowe-trained bay tracked the leaders for much of the way and improved into second with four to jump. Disputing by the third last, she led by the next and kept on well on the run-in to beat the favourite by two and a quarter lengths.

The daughter of Getaway was bred by William Fitzgerald out of a half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Conflated (Yeats) and top-flight chaser Ordinary World (Milan).
