Getaway Mare Carries Penalty To Third Hurdle Success

Friday saw the Olly Murphy-trained Allavina (6m Getaway - One Cool Kate, by Definite Article) record her third win over hurdles in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Perth.

Sent off favourite under regular rider Aidan Coleman, the bay chased the leaders and made headway to lead at the second last. Quickening clear on the run-in, she won by six lengths from Listed winner Fortunes Melody.

Owned by C Boultbee-Brooks, Allavina was also successful in a bumper last season. The daughter of Getaway was bred by John O’Riordan and comes from the family of Apache Stronghold (Milan).
