Getaway Mare Completes Impressive Four Timer
A step up in class is on the cards for Endless Escape (7m Getaway - Endless Wave, by Poliglote) after she recorded a fourth straight success in Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Newcastle.
Ben Clarke’s mare was sent off favourite following a hat-trick won by a total of 31 lengths, with two of the wins coming against geldings, as was the case at Newcastle. Stepping up to two and a half miles on Saturday, she raced prominently throughout under Ben Jones and made smooth headway with three flights to jump. Leading from two out, she was ridden on the run-in and kept on well to score by three and a quarter lengths.
“Endless Escape is a quality mare,” Ben Clarke said after the race. “She is in at Cheltenham and if there is dig in the ground she could go.” Clarke noted the Dawn Run Hurdle as an option at Cheltenham, while a Grade 1 at the Fairyhouse Easter Festival could be an alternative.
Bred by Maurice Smiddy, the daughter of Getaway is owned by Butler, Langford, Tootell and The Hecks.
