Getaway Mare Denies Classy Rivals At Killarney
Whosgotyanow (6m Getaway - Park Athlete, by Supreme Leader) made all to beat a competitive field in Saturday’s Beginners Chase at Killarney.
Owned by Dr Ronan Tynan, the daughter of Getaway recorded back-to-back hurdle wins upon joining the Andy Slattery stable last season and was making her second chase start at the weekend. Cian Quirke rode the bay to lead, with Grade 1 performer Vina Ardanza following her closely, with pricey point-to-point purchase Ballybough Native another racing prominently. Pushed along from the penultimate fence, she was ridden from the final fence and kept on strongly on the run-in to score by a length and a quarter.
Speaking after the race, the winning rider said, “Ronan (Tynan) is delighted with the win and has been extremely good to me. Who’sgotyanow is an honest mare who had been very good over hurdles last summer. She is very quick at her fences.”
The daughter of Getaway was bred by Brendan Laffan out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winning chaser Offshore Account (Oscar).
