Getaway Mare Enjoys Sweet Success Over Hurdles
Smart bumper winner Apple Crumble (6m Getaway - Masiana, by Daylami) proved a class above her rivals in Friday’s novice hurdle at Kilbeggan.
The Barry Fitzgerald-trained mare beat a competitive field in a Punchestown bumper earlier this season and went on to finish a promising second on her hurdle debut. Sent off favourite under Jack Foley, she chased the leaders for much of the way and was travelling best of the field when leading before the final flight. Racing clear on the run-in, she won by seven and a half lengths from a strung out field.
Owned by the PGC Syndicate, the daughter of Getaway was bred by Butlersgrove Stud out of a half-sister to talented stayer Massiyn.
