I Am Shadow (Getaway) Wins The Mares Bumper At Sligo

Getaway Mare Off The Mark For Owner Breeder

I Am Shadow (5m Getaway - Corskeagh Shadow, by Beneficial) carried the colours of breeder Sean Reilly to a deserved win in the mares’ bumper at Sligo on Thursday evening.

Placed in three similar contests, the Ciaran Murphy-trained mare was reunited with Harry Swan on Thursday and raced towards the back of the field in the early stages. Making headway from over four furlongs out, she produced a challenge two furlongs from home and led approaching the final furlong. Soon clear, she was ridden out to deny a late challenger by a length and three quarters.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “This is a lovely mare from a great family with a very loyal and patient owner and I'm just delighted she's went and won a bumper. There's a few more in her, I'd say, and we're looking forward to her.”
