Getaway Sires Impressive Double At Huntingdon
Listed bumper winner Vegas Blue (5m Getaway - Bella Venezia, by Milan) produced an impressive performance on her seasonal return when running out a wide margin winner at Huntingdon on Tuesday.
Successful on both her starts in bumpers, the Nicky Henderson-trained bay was sent off favourite for the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle over two and a half miles. Nico de Boinville rode her to chase the leaders, asserting before the third last and went clear a flight later. Running on well, she won by 13 lengths with ease.
Vegas Blue continues owner Crimbourne Bloodstock’s success with daughters of Getaway, having won the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle with Verdana Blue (Getaway) before selling her for 370,000gns. Bred by Frank Motherway, Vegas Blue provides an important update for her two-year-old brother by Walk In The Park, who sold for €65,000 as a foal.
Guy (5g Getaway - Sept Verites, by Turgeon) completed a double on the card for his Grange Stud sire when making a smart chase debut over two and a half miles.
Placed in a bumper and over hurdles, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained chesnut tracked the leaders under Sam Twiston-Davies and led three fences from home. Racing clear on the run-in, he scored by 13 lengths.
Owned by WG and AG Vestey, Guy was bred by Corrib Racing out of Listed hurdle winner Sept Verites.
