Getaway Trump Comes Out On Top In Nail Biting Finish

The Paul Nicholls-trained Getaway Trump (7g Getaway - Acinorev, by Cape Cross) prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Raynham Novices’ Chase at Fakenham on Tuesday.

The Graded performer was making a significant step up to two miles and five furlongs on his latest start and was ridden to chase the leader by Harry Cobden. Their front pair drew clear from five out, with Getaway Trump joining the favourite with a fine leap at the last, from which they rallied to the line, where Cobden’s mount asserted by half a length.

Bought by Nicholls and Tom Malone for £90,000 after winning his point-to-point for Vincent Halley, Getaway Trump has son been Grade 2 placed over fences and claimed runners-up honours in the Grade 1 Challow Novices’ Hurdle. The son of Getaway was bred by Eugene O’Sullivan out of a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Paco Jack.
