Impressive Maiden Hurdle Win For Son Of Mahler
The Dermot McLoughlin-trained Monstrosity (7g Mahler - Little Pearl, by Bigstone) gained his maiden win over hurdles when justifying favouritism at Ballinrobe on Monday evening.
Racing over two miles and half a furlong, the bay chased the leaders under Paul Townend and improved to race a close second three from home. He gained the advantage when travelling well at the second last and was driven clear to score by ten lengths.
McLoughin, who trains the winner for F Feeley, commented after the race, “Monstrosity did it well. He wouldn't want the ground any quicker and is a big staying horse. Depending on the ground he might go and jump a fence.”
Monstrosity was bred by Jennifer Mahon and is a full-brother to Irish point-to-point maiden winner Lethegoodtimesroll (Mahler).
