Impressive Sunday Treble For Getaway

The Big Getaway (6g Getaway - Saddlers Dawn, by Saddlers’ Hall) will now be aimed at the Ballymore Hurdle after easily justifying favoritism in Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Naas.

Leading from the first flight, the Willie Mullins-trained bay drew clear from the second last and won by 17 lengths on the line under Paul Townend. It marked a third career success for the Joe Donnelly-owned bay, having won a bumper in November and his point-to-point by 30 lengths in March, afterwhich he was bought by current connections for £230,000. Bred by Alex Heskin and John Coleman, The Big Getaway comes from the family of Dawn Run.

The Big Getaway was completing an impressive treble for Grange Stud sire Getaway, with Beaufort West (6g Getaway - Blessingindisguise, by Luso) having completed back-to-back wins shortly beforehand at Fontwell.

Carrying a penalty following an eight and a half length success earlier in the month, he justified favoritism by five and a half lengths with ease. Trained by Colin Tizzard for Taylor and Dwyer, Beaufort West was purchased privately after finishing second on his sole point-to-point start for Colin Bowe. He was bred by Anthony Keane Junior out of a half-sister to Bobs Worth.

Reality Cheque (5g Getaway - Coolaghmore Yeats, by Yeats) completed the first leg of Getaway’s treble when taking the Five-Year-Old Geldings Maiden at Kilfeacle.

Damien Skehan rode the bay to produce a challenge at the second last, drawing clear with Pozo Emery and asserted approaching the final fence. Running on strongly, he scored by five lengths on the line.

Trained by Pat Doyle for Mary Doyle, Reality Cheque was bred by Jan Kennedy and is a half-brother to bumper winner Famous Saying (Fame And Glory).
