Leading Light, Getaway and Soldier Of Fortune in demand at Goffs
A member of Leading Light’s second crop was one of the stars on the opening day of the Goffs December Sale at Kill in Co Kildare on Wednesday.
The half-brother to G2 winner Minella Awards was offered from Conna Stud and realised €39,000 when snapped up by Dick Frisby.
Another popular Leading Light was a colt (pictured) out of G2 winner Princess Leya (by Old Vic), offered from Cleaboy Farm and Coppice Farm and sold to Gerry Hogan for €20,000.
Meanwhile, Frisby also collected a €37,000 son of Soldier Of Fortune presented from The Beeches Stud.
“Both the Soldier Of Fortune and the Leading Light will be back as three-year-olds,” said Frisby. “The Soldier Of Fortune is a good colt by a sire who is doing very well and the Leading Light is another good colt related to a couple of smart types.”
On a day when the top five lots were all by Coolmore NH sires, a son of in-form Getaway was another popular youngster. The colt, prepared by Ballincurrig House Stud, was bought by Kevin and Anna Ross for €37,000.
“He’s a good-looking colt with plenty of scope and he’s a very athletic type too,” said Anna Ross. “The sire is going very well and he’s coming from a nice, active family and we’re looking forward to bringing him back as a three-year-old. He’s been bought on behalf of Chris Jones’ Killeen Glebe.”
