Mahler Mare Adds To Impressive Record
Carrigeen Kampala (5m Mahler - Carrigeen Kariega, by Luso) added another wide margin victory to her impressive record at Newton Abbott on Saturday.
The Fergal O’Brien-trained mare began this year with a hat-trick of wins which were won by a total 35 and a half lengths, before chasing home another smart type last time out. Partnered by regular rider Liam Harrison on Sunday, she raced prominently throughout the Novices’ Hurdle over two miles and one furlong. Asserting with three flights left to jump, she drew clear approaching the last and went on to score by 15 lengths comfortably.
Carrigeen Kampala carries the colours of the National Hunt Racing Club, for whom she won a bumper on debut last season. The consistent daughter of Mahler was bred by Mrs Richard Lalor.
