Mahler Mare Draws Clear To Win Maiden Hurdle
Carrigeen Kampala (5m Mahler - Carrigeen Kariega, by Luso) made a smart return to action on Sunday in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Stratford.
A debut bumper winner last season, the Fergal O’Brien-trained mare finished third on her next two starts and was sent off favourite on her reappearance in the two mile contest. Racing in midfield under Liam Harrison, she made headway from four out and was pushed along to lead approaching the final flight. Soon clear, she ran on well to win by ten lengths.
The promising daughter of Mahler was bred by Mrs RH Lalor.
