Mahler Mare Impresses On Chase Debut
Thursday saw the Paul Nicholls-trained If You Say Run (7m Mahler - De Lissa, by Zaffaran) run out an impressive winner of her first start over fences at Worcester.
Grade 2 placed over hurdles, she was sent off favourite for the Mares’ Novices’ Chase over two and a half miles. Harry Cobden rode her to chase the leaders and led approaching the second last, with the bay running on well to score by six lengths.
If You Say Run was bought by Tom Malone for £80,000 after winning her sole point-to-point start for Ashleigh Murphy and subsequently wone her sole bumper start by 13 lengths. Now owned by Highclere Racing, the daughter of Mahler was bred by Michael O’Regan.
