Mahler Mare Justifies Favoritism On Chase Debut
Barden Bella (4f Mahler - Princess Bella, by Presenting) justified strong market support on her chase debut in Monday’s Novices’ Handicap Chase at Catterick.
The daughter of Mahler showed promise over fences on her sole start in a point-to-point in March, when finishing second to Boher Cailin (Mahler) for Denis Murphy at Turtulla.
Now trained by Christian Williams for All Stars Sports Racing, she was sent off favourite on Monday under Gavin Sheehan, who rode her to lead. Headed at halfway, she regained the advantage at the second last and ran on strongly on the run-in to win by seven lengths.
Barden Bella was bred by Martin Doyle out of a half-sister to Graded performer Aqua Dude (Flemensfirth).
