Mahler Mare Makes Winning Stable Debut
Cheeky Rafeeky (5m Mahler - Blue Fire Lady, by Blueprint) made a winning start for the in-form Eddie Power when taking the mares maiden at Bellurgan on Sunday (pictured left).
Racing prominently, the chestnut mare led from the sixth fence and maintained a clear advantage throughout, crossing the line two and a half lengths in front of Carpool (Mahler), with all of 12 lengths back to their nearest rival. It marked a first win for jockey Ben Harvey.
Owned by Orla Barrett and bred by Simon Ryan, Cheeky Rafeeky comes from the family of top chaser Golden Friend and Irish Grand National runner-up Oscar Time (Oscar).
