Mahler Mare Not For Catching
Love The Melody (5m Mahler - Puff Of Magic, by Flemensfirth) made all to run out an impressive winner of the Mares Bumper at Wexford on Friday evening.
The Pat Flynn-trained bay finished mid-division on debut last month and remained over two miles for her second start. Barry O’Neill took the ride, sending his mount to lead and was soon clear, extending his advantage to 20 lengths at halfway. Rivals got within three lengths of the leader two furlongs from home, from which she quickened to bring the winning margin to eight lengths.
"Love The Melody pulled hard the last day so we let her bowl along today. She's not a bad mare and wants a bit of a cut in the ground. She has a future" commented Flynn after the race.
Owned by Eoin M Sullivan, Love The Melody was bred by Nicky Sullivan and Tom Kearney and is a half-sister to four-time winner The Conker Club.
