Mahler Mare Not For Passing At Tipperary
Nancy Wyse (6m Mahler - Minnie Wyse, by Oscar) showed a game attitude to win Thursday’s Mares Point-to-Point Bumper at Tipperary for owner/breeder/trainer Gerard Quirk.
Racing over two miles and two furlongs, the bay took the lead with a mile left to race and was travelling best entering the straight. Ridden from two furlongs out, she showed a terrific will to win as several delivered challenge and prevailed by half a length on the line, with the same distance back to promising newcomer Kilbarry Chloe (Mahler) in third.
It marked a second win for Shane O’Rourke aboard the Mahler mare, having partnered her to win a maiden at Lingstown. The runner-up Norwigi (Yeats) has since won a maiden hurdle impressively at Fairyhouse.
